Automotive Advertising: The wave of the future?

People need to get from point A to point B. Most people find that owning their own vehicle is the ideal way to accomplish this endeavour. Other people find the cost of owning a vehicle is out of their budget. These individuals turn to public transportation, biking, taxi cabs, and most recently, on-demand ridesharing services, such as Uber and Lyft. When it comes to the likes of Uber and Lyft, car owners also turn to the ridesharing service when they are unable to drive their own vehicle home from one location to another.

Car Advertising to a Captive Audience

Companies, such as Viuer, have come to the realization that advertisers can benefit from the captive audience that is an Uber or Lyft passenger. How is this possible? With the advent of mobile devices, such as cell phones, tablets, and iPads, as well as mobile data including vehicle-embedded 4G LTE broadband internet, digital ads can be placed inside Uber and Lyft vehicles.

Drivers of these Uber and Lyft vehicles can opt to incorporate in-vehicle advertising into their automobiles. This is possible through the installation of one or more iPads or tablets into the vehicle that the passengers would have the ability to use. The iPads or tablets would feature specific ads provided by rideshare advertising companies to the Uber or Lyft drivers.

The in-vehicle advertising is not the same as commercials on a standard television. The ads featured are not random. The ads are directly related to a passengers pick-up and drop-off points. Furthermore, the iPads or tablets installed in rideshare vehicles will feature a GPS map. The passenger will see assorted images and videos displayed on the screen throughout their trip. They have the option to select one of the images to get a better view of the specific ad. In many cases, the ad might offer the passenger with a discount on their ride, or a discount or coupon code for a specific business establishment along their travel route.

One such example might be a local coffee house offering a free cup of coffee with the purchase of a pastry if the passenger asks their driver to stop at that specific coffee house. The possibilities are endless when it comes to what companies choose to use in rideshare advertising. The information and data collected will provide companies with marketing analysis essential for the creation of the most relevant ads and promotions for their customers.

Companies, such as Viuer, who are making Lyft and Uber advertising a reality, have the potential to change the marketing strategies implemented globally. Marketing teams will have the ability to further target their consumer audiences, which in turn could lead to greater, leads, impressions, and conversions. The end result of this new form of in-vehicle advertising is benefits to the consumers.

As a company, we are not trying to replace the use of smartphone devices on rideshare vehicles; alternatively, we are providing an advertising solution that will not only attract the eyes of potential customers, but more importantly will convince them to interact with the adverts on a level that has not yet been done before with modern day physical ads. This interaction not only increases the level of engagement with the tablet, but also serves as a medium for entertainment. Studies have shown that when entertainment is combined with advertisement, the effectiveness of the adverts increases by over 200 percent. Entertainment builds emotion and creates an experience. When you are able to create an emotional experience, the viewer is more likely to remember whatever message the advertiser is trying to impose. At Viuer, we believe that technology has allowed advertisement to be taken to a whole new level of engagement. This has been clearly applied on the internet, but now that we have access to internet connectivity pretty much anywhere, we can begin to apply these effective internet ads on a physical level as well by the use of tablet devices. Technology and the internet has allowed companies and advertisers to guide their audience wherever they choose to. With modern day websites we can control where we want our customer to go and what we want them to look at by using unique layouts, colors, figures among other tools. Moreover, we can extract data such as number of clicks or conversions, number of views or impressions, time spent on each page, and much more in order to accurately measure the effectiveness of each advertisement. By using tablet devices, we can also begin to extract this data on a physical level and potentially charge companies for adverts only by conversions. This decreases the amount of investment companies spend on physical adverts and sequentially increases their return on investment. Internet application to physical ads is the future of advertisement and Viuer believes that its presence in rideshare vehicles is just the beginning..
